About REACT
REACT was formed in 1962 in order to monitor CB channels and listen for help/distress calls from local Team's communities. Since CB radio has gone by the wayside, REACT has expanded to all forms of communication from CBs, GMRS radios, FRS radios, Amateur radio and some Teams even utilize MURS for their communications. REACT has also evolved in order to assist local Government organizations for planned events and unplanned emergencies.
Our Team communicates utilizing the Dunlay GMRS repeater. This repeater provides coverage of most all of Medina County and we also have access to use other GMRS repeaters in the area as needed. Some of our Team Members are also carry a HAM license which allows them to communicate with members of the local ARES group during local planned events and emergencies.
Medina County TX REACT, Inc. is a chartered team of REACT INTERNATIONAL, INC. Today, most of our team’s routine operations are conducted on GMRS frequencies. Our current responsibilities can be summed up in the following three categories:
Local Emergencies: Medina County TX REACT is prepared and available to assist in local emergencies in Medina County. We have a volunteer base ready to serve on short notice. We are working to build a close relationship with local government agencies and many of our Team Members have trained to help assist them if needed.
Community Service: We maintain our skills and equipment through regular community service events. If your organization could use the services of our Team, feel free to contact us.
Public Communications: We maintain an open fixed GMRS repeater that are used by REACT team members. In times of need, the public may use our GMRS repeater to contact a team member for assistance or to relay requests for emergency assistance to the proper authorities.
